Dr. Hasberry is a licensed marriage and family therapist, board certified coach, adoptee, birth mother, and the author of Adopting Privilege. She has spent years working at the intersection of adoption, identity, and healing. As the creator and host of Adoption Narrative Shift, she brings clinical expertise, lived experience, and a commitment to honest storytelling to every conversation.

Abby is a transracial adoptee, birth mother, licensed marriage and family therapist, board certified coach, author, and documentary series creator. Her work centers the adoption constellation: the adoptees, birth parents, adoptive families, siblings, partners, and professionals whose lives are shaped by adoption.
Through her clinical practice, her coaching work under D.E.A.R. Abby Coaching & Consulting, LLC, and her book Adopting Privilege, Dr. Hasberry's passion is helping adoptees and birth parents find language for experiences the adoption system was never designed to support. She trains clinicians in adoption-informed practice and speaks nationally on adoption, identity development, and the power of owning your own narrative.
As the creator and host of Adoption Narrative Shift: Nothing About Us Without Us, Dr. Hasberry brings all of that experience into a new medium: an honest, unscripted documentary series that centers the people adoption most affects but rarely asks to speak. She is not covering this story from the outside. She lives inside it.

Drawing on the first IRB-approved empirical study of birth mother grooming, Dr. Hasberry names how expectant mothers, who are also adoptees, are systematically conditioned by the adoption industry, their families, and society, ultimately compromising informed consent and relinquishment decisions. For legal professionals, family court practitioners, medical providers, social workers, and academics.
The R3 Framework: Reflect, Release, Reinvent, a practitioner-validated, adoptee-centered model and workbook developed by Dr. Hasberry through clinical practice, lived experience, and doctoral research in identity development.
